Put this here to not bog down the sign up sheet with more silly BS. So mods feel free to move where you see fit.
Unreal, opinions are like a$$holes and we all have one. So here is mine.
This is a great site and very helpful to anglers of all levels. A quick solution to this crap on the sign up post imo would be to have a Tournament line added to the forum instead of it being done in the Bass fishing section. And the first time some one starts crap you just ban them from that forum section. Seems easy enough to me.
All this net bravado is horse-crap. It proves nothing and settles nothing. You don’t like what you see or read move along. You got nothing good to say take a walk.
I belong to both sites. On NEF you have to sign in just to see what is going on there. Here you can troll, as you all call it, which I do a lot it is easy to just browse read and sign in when you have some thing to say.
When I found this site I loved the details and vast sharing that went on. I also found a lot of guys not as advanced in their bass fishing and enjoy sharing some of what I have learned over the years here out in the open public forum unabashed. No so much worry about getting killed because you use this brand or that lure. No one to worried about blowing up their water. These are things that are not done so easily on the NEF site. Not bad not good just a different level and crew.
Had done a T or two from NEF. Always had interest in big Ts but wanted to get feet wet in small stuff before wasting a lot of time joining a club or circuit. Well the first one was an eye opener and a disappointment both performance wise from me and what I saw. Guy casting all the while dragging a Senko off the back of his rig. “Cheat” in a CT of like 5 never mind that “cheating” period. B R Utal! At the weigh in fish being tossed over the top of the bushes back in to the pond instead of a gentle release was mortifying. Left a bad taste and no return for me.
My Dad gets sick and one of the things we wanted to do one day was a T together. Well we made it happen through the sites. He was sick and we had to be careful and finished poorly but had fun and to say things were done better was an understatement as Kenny was at the helm. And my Dad (RIP) enjoyed the BSing and ribbing with the boys after. Scratched one of the few Bucketlist things he had time to do. And I thank Kenny and his crew at that time for it.
As I watched the MAFF Ts take shape I dug it. I truthfully believed there was a huge skill level difference from top to bottom just judging on what I read and saw. That is not a problem as it was said the “good guys” were always happy to share knowledge. But from the outside in (as I have a friend who trolls here) it looked like Big fish small pond type deal. I told him read deeper it is not that way.
All the work that goes into it was showing with schedules and stats all the while avoiding the Club word or Trail term. But then jerseys show up (and though I found it a little weird) and guys have team names and the like and it feels like it is going a different way. As I continued to watch I saw again that I was wrong guys were just proud and having some fun. Cool. Seemed like skill levels were beginning to even out as well.
As I saw guys set ups I again got uninterested as guys had fish in Styrofoam, tiny vertical coolers and dam tote jugs. I also saw and read the occasional disagreement or argument over times in and out and this and that. Don’t forget it happened not a lot but happened. And with no structure no clear way to say who is right or wrong or what to do.
Playing by ear is never a good thing when money is involved. I have had unfortunately a lot of experience with things like that/this. I run a Men’s hockey team and we run a tight ship and play hard. We take it serious but still having fun. We have 2 sets of matching jerseys I have spares for fillins and the like. Hated the teams with 20 different jerseys. I hated teams that wanted to bring all their buds come playoffs and all that crap. So after long tireless arguments, and being victimized by the like, rules and regulations finally went in to place to, I happily say, end wringers. Still have some jersey issues and from time to time some douche tries to toss a guy in under another guys name by using his jersey. But mostly it is weeded out. And because I am one of the rabble rouse ers I always catch crap from teams; relax its for fun its Men’s league blah blah. My response yeah you are trying to cheat in a Men’s league to win a plastic trophy and few bucks. If you have 5 play 5 if have 8 play 8 yada yada.
The point being that as this current set up took shape things IMPROVED. No more what ifs? No more but wells. No more questions. And if things don’t work they can and I am sure will be changed. And I am sure as this Season finishes more changes will come to BETTER the over all product for the folks that want to enjoy the tournaments.
Nothing stops a group of fishermen from tossing up a post for a random T with loose rules and what not. If that is your deal have at it. If there are so many disenchanted folks it should be easy to get things going. Me I work Sundays so fishing the T’s is a tough once a Season at best deal. I would love to see a Saturday group come together and go so far as to say that I would be happy to take the point on it.
My closing thoughts are lots of folks have egos and ideas or opinions. Folks all too often mistake their opinion for fact. Crap, it breaks up marriages starts Wars and what not. I urge folks to apply a little thought into their posts. Tone and dialect can be tough to detect in a post. Simple words like in my opinion or No disrespect or hmmmm never thought of it that way can see that as an issue sets tone and comes off as less condescending or argumentative. Which in return should help lead to better solutions. Even then solutions don’t work for every one.
That said when a solution has been put in to action it is at least meant to be good for the majority of the participant’s imo.
End of the day you bake a cake you will break some eggs along the way.
