Anyone have info on fishing Horn Pond in Woburn...How about the small ponds in Harold Parker?

I fish Horn routinely, probably 20 plus times a year. Great fishery, the bass get big and there are a few monsters since they stock the lake with trout 2-3 times a year. Last year they had a Spring rainbow stocking, then a few weeks later a brown, the in the fall another rainbow.

Depends on the time of year to figure out a pattern, but look for grass. Have found the fish relate always to weed and grass there. With usually stain, you find weeds in 4 to 12 feet.

Couple other guys on the site fish it routinely as well... If any specific questions happy to share

Between what Doug has said and this stuff, you should have enough to get started fishing there. Good luck! Oh and make sure you have your fishing license and boat registration in order (if you have a boat). The Wardens come around on a pretty regular basis.

Hey Roger- Get that inventory stocked up and let me know when you and KMAN are heading out. I would love a late March early April outing with you guys! Now that the ice is on the way out, I have open water fever too!

Horn has some big fish in it. It can be a great place to fish. It can also get rough as hell when the wind rips around that hill.

To this day its the roughest body of water I have been on with my 10 ' Pelican.
three foot swells with current stronger than my trolling motor. I have been all over in that boat too. Its by far the only drawback to fishing Horn is how fast it changes from calm to the ocean.

Field Pond in Harold Parker is horrible for fishing, it has been way over fished for decades. There's small bass in Brackett Pond, which due to fishing pressure is equally abysmal. If you have kids, they will love it in the summer, it's infested with frogs (Brackett). If you're feeling really adventurous, you could hike to Bear Pond, but I haven't gone there in 20 years, was never worth it.

On the plus side, if you take the short trail to Brackett, there is a ton of wildlife in the area of all types. The trails are not overly hiked, but if you go in Summer, bring repellent.

If you're in that area, the number one place I could recommend is Fosters Pond, which is a mile South on Rt. 125. There are in fact lunkers in there, I think there's a poster or two on these boards that can attest to great fishing there. Martins Pond in North Reading isn't too bad for a small boat, fantastic fishing on the undeveloped (due to marsh/river flow) side. Not a big pond, but certainly great fishing (Fosters is bigger/better IMO).

Can you launch a 16' Lund on a trailer there or is it just cartoppers? Any HP restrictions (all I will do is troll but...).
Thanks,

I think it's electric and paddle only, but it doesn't seem to say on masswildlife: http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwhorn.pdf

There's definitely a sign at the ramp that says no gas motors
