So been doing a lot of thinking about what to upgrade to as far as boats go and me and my dad have come to a decision and we are odering either the 16ft pro-team tracker or the 17 footer. Wicked pumped ill post pics of the boat in a couple weeks.

Good luck with that for sure and I really hope you get what you want! I've been in negotiations with some people now on some older used boats and just have to see what works out best for me in the grand scheme of things. The longer I wait and the closer we get to Spring, the prices will start to go up. There are a few options I'm looking at and worse comes to worse, I'm stuck in the topper another season.

Stay tuned.....

That's awesome Rob. Wicked happy for you guys. I was trying to get my wife to sign off on the Tracker pro 165 but I couldn't crack her. I'm back to my original plan of getting the 14' jon and adding decks. Look forward to seeing you guys in the Spring

Shawn you said crack and wife in the same sentence. Good to hear about the boat Rob.Look around craigs list before you buy new. There are a lot of boats for sale by people who can't afford them.If you do order new I would suggest the 17 versus the 16.You'll find yourself looking for more room before long.I've got a 17 and I'm always wishing it was bigger.

Good luck with the new boat.

Congrats Rob! And like kenny said.....take your time and shop around! Dont be in a rush. There are some great deals out there. And 100% go with the 17. I sold tracker/nitro boats for a while and I can tell you the PT16 is basically something you could build at your house. It does float, and it does fish well but there is zero storage, and it is just not made like the next model up.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Best of luck buying a new boat. Great advice here to be patient and shop around. I rushed into my first boat and wish I had done it differently. Not sure what your price range is but there are a lot of companies out there with great aluminum offerings worth checking into. Xpress is one that comes to mind - fished out of a few and they are awesome.

Joe i could never leave kayak fishing haha i just picked up a new yak and the end of the season just the ease of a yak i couldnt get away from and something about fighting a big bass and being pulled is unmatched by any type of fishing i plan to do a lot of striper fishing with the yak this year. And THANK YOU to everyone we are shopping around a but we found a 165pt the 16.5 footer a 2010 with just under 60 hours on it that we are probly gonna buy its been serviced and bought from bass pros and they will give us a warranty with the engine and the 165 has the same storage compartments as the 17 ftr except for the rod storage its the same but the 165 the butt ends are exposed the 17 rod storage if fully enclosed. Thanks for all the info guys thats whybi love this site we are still gonna do some shopping around before we sign any paper ken told me to check out the new lowe boats sonwe are gonna check out a dealer this week!

I've been pricing new boats for a while now and it's worse than buying a new car. Recently I went to the Rockingham Park Boating, Hunting & Fishing Expo and all the dealers were there. There was a nice Crestliner for $12k and I asked the cash price, they stated there is no cash price. They make all their money off financing, even in light of a 10%-20% markup.

Then, looking at reviews of all these dealers, it IS just like buying a car, they are horrible scumbags (according to reviews). The Fall prices used on Craigslist et al. were way overpriced, not to mention the reliability factor.

So as the poster above stated, have to be patient, it's a buyers market in a crummy economy.
