Big bass hitting swimbaits

How often do you guys throwing big swimbaits have to deal with a the ugly sight of a huge bass just taping the bait? I was chucking a 7in and saw a big gal following it and just barly tapped it. the hit was so light my rod and line dint twitch. It was a sad sight since the bass must of atleast been 5-7. Got me wondering how often does that happen?

Not that often. If they commit to hitting it is usually vicious in nature. I do get a lot of follows with no commitment.

It was wierd becasue it seemed like she was gona annihilate it, but then just taped it and darted away. I was fishing in a pond with super clear water so she maybe just got spooked? Either way it was still awesome watching a big bass get within 7ft of my boat.
