Is there anywhere in eastern Mass where you can still catch Bows from shore? Is Houghton's completely depleted? I'd like to smoke a fresh trout for a party I'm going to, so obviously I can't wait for the Fall stock.

They are out there but my guess is they are still deep in the cooler water. water temps are still in the upper 70's and that way too warm for trout to be up. Give it a month and they will be back up and the stocking trucks will soon follow. Right now is a great time to focus on bass. they will be starting to feed up a bit especially on the deeper ponds that turnover. that turnover period lasts a week or 2 and the bite is almost non exsistant. Fish instinctivly feed heavily as the sence water temps start to drop

there are holdovers in deep clear water places. find the thermocline. they're down there.
