All the impending gloomy weather (though a few ponds and my lawn needs it) it got me thinkn about fishin in the rain.

I used to all the time from shore when I was a kid but not so much anymore. I like my jon boat and gear dry. The only time I caught bass w rubber frogs was during down pours. They always seemed to fight harder too. Or was it because my hands were wet?

Do you have any rainy weather tips?

I'm not a big fan of the rain. I did go out with my buddy this morning for 5 hours. It rained the whole time. Even with rain gear we were soaked. The boat was full of water (I have a cartopper) and every piece of gear got soaked. I hate that part. I usually leave everything in my car but when it gets soaked I have to take it all out and dry it out in the garage. We did catch a ton of fish, mostly on the buzzbait (my favorite lure) so that makes it bearable.

I don't mind the rain at first. When it drags on for days the fish seem to get lazy/full. A nice light drizzel keeps bugs away and fish hungry.

I know a few spots where the fishing is much better when its raining...I always do well with a big spinnerbait, gold willowleaf spoons. Senkos also do well in the rain.
That being said, i'll be out tomorrow...

I have always found the bite to be prettygood just as it starts raining. It seems to last for the first hour or so and then completely die off. I will fish if it's light rain or off and on showers. I draw the line if it's a steady, hard rain Exclamation

The rain at this time of year can create the trifecta of best fishing conditions: Air pressure, Oxygen and surface water temperature.

Best days so far this year have been in the rain, made even better because the best spots from shore are not in competition.

the rains great but it can stop now, Its preventing all the spots I punch from getting all matted and nasty
