just wondering if I caught a couple of pickerel if I could use them as cut bait for stripers..and when using seaworms should I float them or let them go all the way to the bottom. Fish near wollaston beach..[/u]
Thank you for that last post. I was trying to find rules and regs over it. What about sunfish as it is not considered a game fish? I see types of Sun fish or pan listed in chart as legal. I have googled using it on stripers and said they love to feed on them in freshwater but would only survive for 10 minutes or so in salt
Pumpkinseed are a type of bluegill which is permissibile to use as a baitfish. All other types of sunfish are not to be used as baitfish. If you can get golden shiners then you can stay within the law as they are somewhat easier to catch then yellow perch which are a cold water fish.
I use Bluegills "Kivas" for Large Mouth Bass all the time. They love em. I'm sure that the Srippers would enjoy them as well, plus it would only cost you for the worms...and little hooks
i fish around marshfield...look for bays..look for tidal areas ...water at high tide...mud and/or sand at low tide....you'll see tons of holes...sprinkle some mortons kosher salt...water spits up..theres a clam
if you don't catch anything..you still get dinner...you can also find tons of sea worms in these area...another great bait
