Need a little guidance

I recently picked up a project bass boat. As I go thru all of the thins that need attention, I hooked up the trolling motor to see if it works. It is a Motorguide excel sp which I found is electronic steering instead of the cable. It does seem to work but, does anyone have experience with this model. Likes and dislikes. LBs of thrust.
