I was back out on the pond again and i threw the same lures i used yesterday...nothing, but i had nothing to do today so i kept fishing... Still got nothing so around 1:00 i decided to try some new lures that i got over the winter just for shits and giggles. First i tied on a Strike king KVD silent square bill to see how the action was. Threw it in the shallows and retrived it super slow.....Boom nice sized bass nailed it so i figured i would try that for the rest of the day. Between that and a crawdad crankbait i landed over 8 fish.(Some of the hits i dint even twitch my lure and they smoked it) So that put me in a good mood being able to retrive my lures and not fall asleep
, After i circled the pond two times i was about to leave, but i had a sudden urge to try this little topwater frog that walks the dog. I tied it on and casted around for a bit with no luck untill i moved just a little down the shoreline and started casting right on the shore having my bait move out deep, i was bareilly walking it . And to my disbelief i saw a splash on the surface and a tug on my line and i was PUMPED. So with some covidence i worked the bait as slow as i could and ended up landing 4 bass under 3lbs and one at 3.7lbs!!! I never thought i could use a topwater this early in the northeast but i guess anythings possible. But i imagined you guys would find this interesting....i can only imagine some of the bigger ponds and lakes should be having some good output soon because the smaller ones are starting to come alive again.
