What it so special about Lake Boon?Hudson isn't too far from Worcester at all...dare I say" is it worth the drive? and can it be fished from shore?

Nothing really special about it IMO.
Shore fishing is VERY limited as it has probably 90% developed shoreline. The largest area where shore fishing is possible is adjacent to the launch. Although that area is very shallow and solid Lilly Pads. Not worth the drive from Worcester unless you are bringing a boat.
