Almost tossed out a prefectly good trolling motor.
I had been using a 30lb thrust Minn Kota (10+ years old) to push along what looks like a Pelican Bass boat. (It looks like but isn't one). After my last two trips on the lake it had been acting sluggish so i pulled the prop off and low and behold tons of line wrapped up in there.
I cut the line out and it was free to spin again....however it was still sluggish. My last outing with it it spun so slow you could count the blades as it spun.
I checked the entire motor out just to find out that the battery i was using....was toast....
After hooking my trolling motor up to a 2nd battery it spun as fast as it did when it was new.
I almost didn't hook it up to another battery and just said done with it.
Although i do not like losing a battery i would choose the lesser of two evils and junk the battery over the motor any day.
