I found a small body of water behind the building I work in. Maybe 200 yards long by 30 yards wide. Very murky and I can't find the inlet. I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if there are fish present aside from blind casting. The coordinates of the water are:

42°12'52.81"N
71° 2'38.51"W

That's in Braintree. What do you think? Is this a place I could get my line wet during lunch?

I didn't look it up, but I would bet it has bass. Most bodies of water do. Start casting away, This could be your new honey hole!

I worked near a similar pond on the Hyde Park/Dedham line. Kids fished it regularly, and we saw some carp in it at lunch time. I'd bet there's some perch and bluegill at least, and maybe some small bass.

If there are signs that say No Fishing, it's probably loaded with bass Smile

Throw some bread or cracker crumbs in the water...if there are fish in there they will show themselves.
