Anyone know any good spots on the Charles? I've never fished it before nor have I fished a river before so I could use some hints.

I'm really new to the site & just getting back into fishing, but the stretch downstream of Auburndale/Newton looks promising. There's a kayak & canoe rental place there too.

Good luck!

yes i would highly recommend the stretch from the kayak place to the woerd ave boat launch. some monsters in there. check out "E island". great place to fish along the weeds or go froggin. let me know if you want more details. i fish that stretch a lot.

do you fish from the shore or from a boat? is the current strong there? I have a little 2 man boat with a 50 lb thrust trolling motor on it. Would I get dragged away?

rowboat mostly. 50 lbs is more than enough. the current is usually pretty slow.

google this longitude / latitude 42.35407, -71.25864

or google map this address 332 Islington Rd, Newtonville, MA

it's that area right to the NW of that point. i'm sure you know that thin stretch and the surrounding areas. it's like a small channel through the main river.
