It was a very slow bite day.
We were on the water about 8 a.m. in our kayaks.
A guy fishing from shore at the bridge said he got one small bass on a topwater, but I couldn't get any hits on one.
We worked the weed beds and the main channel up river for about a mile for 4 hours, got some hits on soft plastics, my buddy lost one on a senko, but in the ended the only thing landed was a hapless blue gill that took his spinner bait.
Really beautiful scenery though, no development at all as it's in the national wildlife refuge. I may do a return visit in the fall and see if I can do better, and at least enjoy the foliage.
