I've had my Ascend for 4 years or so and I never set up a rod crate for it, I just used the cut down,hacked together one I had made for my Old Town kayak.I added couple more rod tubes and a light/ flag holder but rods n reels kept getting tangled and last week my towel blew out of it from the back of the truck on the highway and that was the final straw.Made a new one this morning using a full milk crate.It has 4 rod tubes with notches for reels to slide into so rods won't spin and lanyards, a combo light pole/safety orange flag holder,a spot for fish finder battery,small cooler and plenty of room for lots of crap! Plus sum bungee cord so my towel can't blow out again
