Im going to change the line out of my baitcaster and spinning reel, just looking for a few suggestions. The spinning reel im changing, I mainly throw just soft plastics, a lot of wacky rigging. On the baitcaster im changing I throw mainly Jigs and Spinners. Any suggestions on what line I should use on each?

Thanks

mono for the spinning maybe 10 pound and BRAID for the baitcaster anywhere from 15 to 40 pound. You could also do fluorocarbon for the spinning to make the line a little more low-key when working those plastics slow.

put braid on your spinning reel and use a flouro leader cast nice and last for a long time when it wears a little turn it around. put a packing under it and only put on a little more than you think you'll ever cast. I use 30lb power pro also on baitcaster but no leader

Don't go higher than about 30 lb if you use braid on the spinning, by the way. And if you didn't happen to know, backing is just some mono that you put on the spool before the braid to keep it from sliding since braid likes to be slippery. good luck with your choice!

braid for everything!! i use 10lbs braid for my spinning gear. i add 8-20lb floro leader. i normaly use 12. 8 for drop shotting. 20lbs for fishing big fish water with sharp rocks and logs!

i have 3 bait casters. 1) 65 braid, saltwater pike and big swimbaits. 2) 20lbs floro for swimbaits.
3) 30lb braid for everthing else! light swimbaits, frogs, jigs!

Braid for me too. I think fishing with braid in a kayak really helps me out. I have set the hook on fish and my kayak immediately starts moving toward the fish if they have any kind of size. I think it's almost like dealing with the stretch on a long cast that you have to deal with using mono. I have used mono, but the combination of too light action rods, kayak movement toward the fish and mono stretch has prevented me from getting a good hookset on long distance casts. Braid has worked a lot better for me. I get the occasional wind knot and some of the other annoyances with braid, but that's a fair trade off for me when I bring more fish to my boat.
Funny thing about braid..... seems like once you get used to using it, you really have a hard time going back to mono.
