So I decided to go to White Pond in Concord today, and there was a sign that said there was a toxic algae bloom going on and the pond was closed. I've just been wondering how that will affect the fishing in the future, and if it is something that people should be worried about.

Usually it is the same ponds that have them year after year. Bog ponds are highly susceptible. Fish don't seem to mind. Laughing The key word is toxic. Can cause skin irritation to people and can be fatal to dogs if ingested. There are a couple of area ponds that I fish and once they are in full bloom I will fish elsewhere.

Dang I didn't know Jamaica pond had it too.. It's alright though I just hope the blooms end quick though. Razz I heard they get worse as the summer goes on.

Yes, it will last through the end of the season. I have seen algae on some ponds while ice fishing!

I wouldn't worry about blue-green algae blooms around here, the blooms mostly effect humans more than the fish.

Last year an algae bloom killed everything in Lake Mission Viejo, which is one of the few lakes that has ever produced a 20lb+ bass.
