hows the humming bird piranha max?? is that portable?

You can make any fish finder portable. I have a Elite 5 that I mounted to an old humminbird 160 portable plastic frame. The 12 volt battery is held on in the back with velcro. I use it on my boat and for ice fishing.

that is exactly what I did but I also shortened the shaft so I don't hit any more stumps with the canoe. I just hook it up to the troller battery.

I've had the Piranahmax for 4 years now, for a basic fish finder it works great.I have it permanently rigged on my kayak but I remove it for ice fishing in the winter.It came with a plastic frame and bag for using it as a portable but I found it to be bulky so I set it up in a small lunch box cooler for ice fishing.It came with a battery that weighs less than 10 lbs and I've been using same battery since i got it.

No, the batteries are quite small. I order them through cabelas. Sometimes I will stack two on top of each other.

I have a bunch of these and you can get different amp hours. They're still small and portable but give you more life if you want that option.
