small ponds with shallow tend to warm up faster than large ponds. So, thats your first move. Then use slow presentation for bass. this is mean, fish it slow with any lures. Jig, crankbaits, jerkbaits, or plastics with weight or not.

I tend to leave my lure in water for more than five minutes before it come out of water.

But another one or two weeks, bass will become more active at anywhere. given to water temp raising.

Good luck.

p.s. my giant bass was caught on plastic and i didnt move it for ten second each twitch. then you felt little tap, you know what it meant.

Fished for bass twice skunked twice. Granted short trips to same lake but still. Will the water ever warm up?

I've hit up one specific lake three times this year and have only managed 3 small bass - all of which were caught on a 1/2 oz black and blue jig with a craw trailer. Most of them were in about 4 feet of water.

Sadly, I've seen several LARGE dead bass washed up on the shore. By large I'm talking 4, 5, or even maybe 6 pound bass. Looks like my favorite lake is going to be tough going this year as the winter really took a hammer to this particular fishery. I'm hoping that some of the big girls managed to survive and will reproduce. Time will tell!
