What are the best baits to use in the Fall once the water starts to cool? How about Chatter baits with a trailer? I fish mostly at the A1 site in Westboro, and will be going over to Whitehall as well. I know senkos are on the list of great baits, but that debate is still going on, to fish them or not fish them. my best catches this season were on 10 inch ribbon tail worms, and the Heddon Magnum Torpedo prop bait in June/early July. any suggestions? do the big soft plastic swim baits(YUM money minnow) work better than Chatter baits in the cooler water?

I haven't been to A1 in a while. There was a lot of dead and dying grass. I did pretty good with a popping frog. I suspect that bite will still be on for a couple of weeks. The squarebill is a solid choice in the fall. The jig is a staple

one of my favorite ponds to throw jigs. but A-1 looks really sick this year. the weeds didn't grow much an were mostly brown.

I've noticed that in several lakes/ponds in the area this year. I think it might be due to the harsh winter we had (reduced growth time for weeds) and lack of rain/falling water levels.

Either way, that place was always so weed choked that even if half of the vegetation died off you could still probably walk across the pads.

Went to A-1 last weekend. Lily Pads are still there, underwater vegetation is prominent. Caught a couple of bass on a 4" double curly tail grub and a Strike King KVD paddle tail shad swimbait. There was a lot of baitfish activity in the morning prior to the wind kicking in like holy hell around 10:00 am. Can't say that I am a big fan of getting back and playing in the stump field in my thin skinned plastic bottomed kayak in a strong wind.... I like to be able to see the stumps coming. Perch were hitting small crankbaits on a very slow retrieve to keep them from burying in the weeds.
I have only been to Stump Pond twice in my life, first time it rained and was windy, second time was the day after a huge storm passed through and was windy. I will go again, and it would be fun to have a low wind, clear day. Regardless of the weather this past Sunday, there was still quite a few people out there in the morning until the wind picked up.

In years past the weeds were so thick at the surface it looked like a sea of green. the place gets pounded almost every day and the fishing has gone down hill. you can still get some good ones but not on a regular basis.

it will vary from place to place depending on water temperature and if there's still grass, pads, or other vegetation. don't get trapped into using just one or a few different lures. but in general, some search baits are good to have with you if they're in fall patterns and following bait.

Can you fish from the shore at stump pond or is it really only good for having a kayak, canoe, etc.?

There is good acess at the dike and a few spots around lake but def better with a boat. Better off hitting chauncy off shore. Plenty of spots just go early or late to avoid pleasure craft.
