Some of you may have seen I bought a 1977 glastron bass boat . I have the motor running great I tested everything, rebuilt the carbs replaced all the wiring on the motor..etc. now I'm down to getting the livewells functioning it appears that they are set up to pump water through the aerators and the tanks fill up and then dump out the overflows. The boat has an original switch that says "recirculte" but the way it looks there's no way the pump could get water except straight from the pond. Obviously I don't want water dumping out of my boat all day and for the wells to be untreatable. Has anyone ran into this problem or does anyone have anyinsight on how I could get it to work ?

Usually if you have a switch that says "recirculate" that means that no new fresh water is pumped in and whatever is in your livewell is just recirculated, at least that was the way it worked on my stratos and my skeeter before that. Switching it back to just "ON' would bring in continuous fresh water.
For most of the year except for July and Aug. pumping in continuous fresh water is the way to go. In july and Aug. Fill your livewells and run them on "on till like 9 or 10 am then switch to "recirculate" and add some frozen water bottles and some rejuvinade or jungle or some additive like that.

thanks thats some good info i thought you generally recirculated most of the time and changed the water every so often but that makes me feel better about the set up i have. i found that somebody replaced the pump and re plumbed it so that it noo longer recircualtes. shouldnt be too tough to reconfigure in the future i just gotta get on the water!

yeah, as long as water temps are below say 78 to 80* fresh water is always best. When it gets over 80* keep it in the livewell, recirculate it, treat it and cool it down.
