Yesterday I got a fat 30" striper on a Stillwater "smack it" plug in the Danvers river around sunset. After I filleted it I noticed 3 or 4 black "particles" buried in the white meat. I picked them out with a knife and closely looked at them. They really didn't look like worms and they were irregular in shape. The closest comparison I can think of is that it they looked like very small pieces of bark mulch, half the size of a pink pencil eraser. When I squeezed them, they crumbled like feta and didn't smoosh like you would expect a worm parasite to do. They also didn't look like they were coils of any sort, another reason I am perplexed by this. I've seen plenty of coils and worms in cod and these were nothing like those.
I've never seen these before and was wondering if anyone else had seen something like this. I haven't been able to find anything online similar to what these looked like.
