I installed a Lowrance X-4 Fish Finder in my kayak. I am currently using a couple of 6 volt lantern batteries wired in series to power it. I am looking to find something rechargeable.... any suggestions??? Question

I don't have a kayak but I would use a 12v U.P.S. backup battery like 12v 7ah or 12v 9ah. you can get one at you-do-it in needham. I am sure the kayak guys will help you.

Hi,

I've rigged up something like this and it works quite well:

For my battery I use the following and it's been plenty of power:

Good luck

fdw9652- I have a used 12v battery you can have and a Humminbird charger for sale, $25, if you need one. Let me know, I'm in Worcester.

This the charger.

Okay... this is what I did:

Took a waterproof box. Drilled holes through the top and put bolts through then with the heads inside the box and the threads sticking out through the top. To these bolts I connected red and black pin meter leads. The meter leads slide securely into the (+) and ((-) terminals on a 20v Lithium battery for a Black and Decker cordless drill. The battery is secured inside the waterproof box with industrial strength velcro. Waterproof box is held to the hull in the aft compartment of my kayak, right behind the seat with velcro and a bungi cord. Leads to the Fish Finder are attached to the "terminal bolts on the waterproof box with wing nuts.
I was on the water for 7.5 hours and only lost 1.5 volts from the Lithium battery powering my fish finder. Works great!!
Thanks for all the input on this, it was a huge help!!
