Was fishing the charles and saw tons of carp, chasing and fighting? each other some huge blow ups. Am I right in thinking they are being territorial and bass will not be in that area? I'm going back to that spot with a bigger rod and a s*** load of line when i get a chance to try to get one of the monsters. Saw atleast 4 2' if not 3.

There are some monsters in that river. I've seen channel cats down by the esplanade that I swear were making eye contact with me from 15 feet away. Pulled a 4lb smallie out of there last fall. I've been fishing it for about three years between Watertown and the basin and folks always used to scratch their heads at me, now there's fierce competition for almost all the shore spots along that stretch LOL. I see a lot of Carp guys out there, I'd say definitely give it a shot, don't know too much about carp vs. bass in terms of territory and whatnot though.

Went out to Clear Lake, CA last week for a 5 day fishing trip, the Carp were jumping. A lot. The locals say it is because they're spawning and it is part of their mating routine, but I never knew they were so active.

So much, that at 5 AM I was out on our pier fishing, and it sounded like every 20 seconds someone threw a rock into the lake.

Great trip... Carp are fun.

walleyefanatic: Are you sure they are Channel cats and not white catfish? If so, I am fishing there tonight--I REALLY want a Channel.
