I'd speculate it's old hat for fisherman/women on these pages about proper licensing and safety equipment for boaters. However, The EP was on the water at Attitash yesterday, not just at the launch. They checked for safety equipment (son had his PDF on), and my spare in storage. They also checked for my current fishing license, which I had.
When I called it a day, some old-timers at the launch were stating that lots of boaters saw the EP trucks and turned around. The EP were formal & business like, nothing crazy, and IIRC one of them was the same guy at the launch when I put in my first time as a boat owner last year which gave me a chuckle.
I only mention this topic because of some of the other issues raised as of late - illegal fishing. We see it all the time, yet nothing gets done. Meanwhile, there's more than enough resources to patrol & and enforce those of us who do the right thing. Of course, even if they targeted some of the illegals/immigrants that poach the baitfish population and the like, it's doubtful they would ever pay or show up if summonsed.
*Caught first bass this year too! Nothing big, but I was fishing in S.C. last week which was great, caught my first "Mudfish" which they kill down.
