got a question. if your cold water fishing (or any fhishing for that matter) if you start catching pickerel is that any indication there might be bass in the area?

i'm not really sure this time of year. all i know is that i haven't caught a single one so far and it's great.

This question inspired me to googel when pickerel spawn. This is what I read, pickerel spawn sometime between the end of marchh and april. Its pretty uneventful. The female lays the eggs on weeds or whatever and the male may or may not fertilize them. Neither male or female sticks around to proteect the eggs and once they hatch the babies are on their own. Since we know at this time of year bass set up in specific spots getting ready to spawn, I'd say the answer to your question is no. That is my 2 cents based on 5 minutes of research
