you think it would be good in 2 weeks

No! This is the homestretch for the south shore. The sun is the big factor as we get into Feb. I have already seen edges that are shot! We would need another super cold period to sustain the ice. The way this winter has been going nothing would surprise me though! Laughing

So what ponds/lakes in Eastern MA (not including the Cape) have safe ice right now?

Oldham had about 5 last saturday, but between the warming weather and snow, no clue what type of shape it is in now

With the snow cover on top it gets tricky. If you are going out on ice that people aren't out on you really need to check the thickness as you move out. I was on a pond this a.m. that had a 1" crust, 2" of water and then 4" of ice. A freakin mess! Laughing

Does Houghton's freeze/is it frozen?

And what's the deal with Jacob's in Norwell?

What do you mean by "deal"? It holds good fish and the south end (by Rt. 123) should have safe ice. Very shallow, max 5 ft.

Webster has some big ones that holdover, I caught a 7.4lbr this spring while bass fishing near Goat Island. I was also told by a local that salmon stocking took place today, and Comet, Webster and Quinsigamond were stocked with about 25 fish each.
