fish/depth finder

without making it ultra confusing whats anybody's thoughts on the fish/depth finders in the 4 to 6 hundred dollar range. my main thing is I want a clear view of the bottom and whats down there and I don't give a s*** about charplotting. Its for the local ponds no ocean

The gps is cool to mark where you found underwater structure, points, humps that type of thing.

I too will be pulling the trigger on electronics this year.. Max i'll ever spend if even possible is $1000.

I'll be buying Sam's hds5. He just doesn't know yet

Will you be fishing shallow, deep, open water or weed filled ponds mostly? Definitely important to keep this in mind when purchasing.
