Here's an very inexpensive way to balance those long tip heavy rods. Works great on flipping and punching sticks so you can use a lighter reel once the rod is balanced.
1 inch furniture leg end caps found at Home Depot. They run under $3.00 for a package of four. They fit very snug at the butt end of a rod. Use quarters to add weight until the rod is balanced to your liking.

wait is that a loomis? if so, is it really tip heavy??

The Loomis isn't bad, but due to it's 7"5" length and split grip it could use a little help with a core attached.

The other is a 13 fishing Envy 7'11" flipping stick. It's light in weight but tip heavy due to the length.

i thought loomis still adds their foregrip to help with balance. interesting...

do they use the recoil guides on the flipping rods? that could get interesting as well with a punch setup.

Recoils are only on the Nrx line now. The envy has recoils.
Some people don't like using braid with recoil guides due to the noise.

Good tip Chuck. Thanks for posting.

I saw the set-up first hand and it makes a world of difference to balance the longer rods with lighter reels. Very crafty, Chuck!

I really can't take any credit, but thanks guys.
I was looking for a rod balance kit and had a difficult time locating one. They were either out of stock or they need to screw into the butt end of the rod.
So, with the help of bbc, I was able to find a solution. The bonus is that I can balance 8 rods for the price of one rod balancer kit.

Just passing it along.

well i still use quarters for laundry so....

i was messing around last night and my 7'5" irod air is slightly tip heavy with a 6.6 oz. reel so i'll give this a shot. too bad b/c the rod itself is insanely light for it's length.

Good stuff Chuck!

You could probably use washers instead of quarters

Wiseass, but definately cheaper.

I think quarters are a little more arrogant though.
