A friend and I are headed up in July. We like to wait till the post spawn is over and the fish have shifted and are in their summer patterns. We will go the weekend after the 4th most likely for 2-3 nights. WE will hit 4-5 different ponds in those days. If anyone is interested in that time frame let me know. WE stay at Lakeside on Cobbosseeconntee

We go 3rd week in May. Friday-Sunday.6th yr at cobbossee.
I'd like to make another trip up there during the season.
If i can squeeze the time in when your on one of the trips I'd be there.
I think the pond across the street has some nice fish. Andy says if you can carry a bout over there it is ok to fish.

I figured I would bump this to the top.

This winter, Damon is going to finish this jon boat and we are going to pimp out my new to me crawdad. We are also going to do a similar build on Sam's new 12' jon.

This has always been one of my favorite threads. Lots of invaluable info for anyone trying to do their own upgrading.

Next week I start the process of ripping off my front deck and starting over, now that I've had a solid 1.5 years of wishing I had designed the deck differently , its time to finally do just that, also picked up a Minn Kota 68lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor of a whopping ZERO $'s thats right ZERO!!! love it, also have a solid lead on a 1999 Mercury 25HP 2 stroke... fingers crossed.

If you get a new motor I may be interested in your old one. I'm working on the wife to get a new bass boat like the tracker pro165 16' aluminum but if that doesn't work I may be doing a project on a jon like yours

First, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Damon, Dan, and Joe for offering to help customize my boat. I really don't have the setup, tools, space or knowledge to be able to do 99% of the stuff in progress and the final product is going to be unbelievable and make fishing that much of a better experience.

Damon will probably be putting up the fine details but here's the overall idea of what we're doing with my 12’ Tracker Topper jon boat. The project is still in progress but most of the framework and design elements are complete.

Wiring for the main battery and motor is run all the way from the front to the back through conduit where the battery will sit to balance the weight out. It was difficult to get the wire through the seat and foam to come out on the side to meet the conduit. We finally got it through with the snake though. It took awhile but it will keep all of the wires and cluster out of the boat itself.

On that seat bench will be a swivel seat. The middle will have the livewell and other gear. We’re also going to glue down some anti-fatigue mats to keep boat noise down to a minimum.

The deck itself is the design Damon outlined earlier with an aluminum frame and 2 hinged compartments on the sides. There will also be a plug / receptacle up front for the motor socket. The finder mount will go up front as well but I’ll still power it with the separate gel cell battery I have.

Above that will be a shorter raised deck to hold the motor mount and provide an area to act as a shelf where you can stow Plano boxes and that finder battery.

One other thing is the live-well itself. It will be similar to those of guys who have added information here but with some slight modifications to cut down on supplies and surface area. The pump is drilled through and mounted on the outside. I added a filter on the inside to strain the water before it re-circulates and goes through the pump. From there it will go through very short hosing and back through another hole at the top where the aerator spray head will be connected directly to the hose coming in.

This part is still TBD since I’m still waiting for the spray head so the top hole hasn't been drilled. Worst case is putting thru hull fitting in and then using the standard spray bar. I wanted to avoid having to use this though to limit on the holes in the cooler and having to use all of the hose clamps.

I know I’m missing some of the finer details but will keep adding information I remember.

Here are a few pictures from Damon's shop.
