Went out my a friend in the Concord River at the Bedford route 225 launch last week. River was DEAD. We were there about 6:30 and fished until 9pm. Weeds, well not really weeds but muck everywhere. No river motion. Water temps in the 80's. Caught a 4 inch perch on a spinner and used it as a trolling bait for pike. No hits. No fish activity seen.
Many of my favorite ponds (Flint Pond Tyngsboro, Russel Mill Pond Chelmsford, etc) are basically land at this point. Eutrified and dried up.
So my request is can anyone point me towards a pond/lake North of Boston that has some depth? How high is the Merrimack right now? Wife is doing a yard sale next Saturday and I plan to be gone for all of that, so please give me some ideas!
