I've fished Ponkapog, Blue Hills Reservoir, Little Pond, and Long Pond over the two weeks and ended up with a 2-3 pound California Rainbow (caught on brown/craw jig) and a few Pickerel (one 28" long), and one bass @ BHR. Got skunked @ Little Pond after 4 hours on 10/30.

Working a brown/craw jig, various colored Senkos, and a chartreuse/white spinner bait.

Water temps were 57-59.

Awesome catches. That's a snake of a pickerel at 28"! What's a California Rainbow? Same as a Golden Trout(Palomino trout)?

I didn't think they had the true California strain Golden Trout out here:

Yeah, it looked like a small Muskie, well ... kind of. It put up a good fight.

As a reference, my kayak is 36" wide.

A California Rainbow, according to the old timer I asked, is a hybrid Rainbow with a red/pink gill area. This is the first and only one I've ever caught.

Yikes, that's a monster pickerel, and a beauty of a trout!

I hit the Sudbury Reservoir this afternoon for my last visit for the season.

Got a dink smallmouth, a keeper largemouth, and a couple of yellow perch, all on a lipless rattle crankbait.

What are water temps lately?

I've seen 50 as the low and nothing over 53.

Plymouth and Cape ponds/lakes this past weekend were 57-58.

I just left Long Pond in Plymouth after 4 1/2 hours of beautiful weather and no bites. Water temps were 56-57. Frustration got the better of me.

My wife calmed me down and suggested I try another pond. I'm going to give Sampson's Pond a try & see how it goes.
