I am struggling since October rolled in and suggestions . I'm fishing smaller bodies of water under 10 acres by boat and shore. Ever since the weeds started dying back I am having problems catching, same thing has happened the last two falls as well.

A general rule once it starts getting colder: slow down.

Then when you think you are going slow enough go slower

We haven't hit that point yet! Water temp is still in the upper 50's. The fish should be aggressive and chasing baits but they are not for whatever reason. Rolling Eyes

Same thing happened last year. I noticed the bite got better when the water got below 55.

I've been doing well fishing slow, which is REALLY hard for me. Haha.

Yeah, I've been throwing worms and senkos that I hate doing this time of year! Next month, yes! Laughing

I did get a few fish this week at an over flow pond from a bigger lake , went back yesterday and they must have opened the dam above flooding pond with 4 feet of water. I am wondering if it will fish well again with all the new water once it settles down

water temps today were 50 - 52 Bass were crushing spinner baits and jigs. About 50 fish total. 5.10 & 5.8 were biggest.

How deep??

various depths, the place is 4 ft max.

Wow, 50 fish, incredible. I thought I was doing OK with 4 at the Sudbury Reservoir yesterday.

3 dink smallies and 1 keeper LM.

No takers on spinner baits or jigs with crawfish plastics - like last weekend there, a lipless shad crank bait brought them all in, until I lost it to a snag, and then I caught 1 on a perch crankbait.

Water's definitely cooling down now - about 5 degrees since last week so I'd say it's mid-50s.

I'll probably give it another week or two and put away my tackle until the spring.
Very Happy Very Happy

spinnerbait bite hasn't died for me yet, and the 5" weightless senko has been a good producer.

Funny enough I've been doing well with t-rigged lizards. Been tossing them at every piece of cover I can see (especially stuff poking out of the water)

I too have been fishing similar bodies of water lately. I have been catching some decent bass and pickerel by downsizing baits (spinners, small swimbaits), fishing water more thoroughly and most importantly finding patches of vegetation that are still green.
