How do you guys keep track of fish caught? I just have a spiral notebook, but it gets messy when my hands are wet. Anyone use an iPhone app or any other ideas?

Interesting topic, was looking into coding an iOS/Android app that would use a bluetooth scale and overlay current weather conditions and weight over photographs of the fish and store info in a small DB, could probably add notes for lures etc.

The FishBrain app does that. It's all visible to other users, though, and you have to deal with a bunch of idiots posting two-pounders and calling them eight-pounders.

Yeah, that's what I would avoid, it would not be an open database for others, I have seen apps like that.

This would be more for personal records/fishing database. Figured, the amount of time I fish and fish I catch could all be recorded, then after along enough timeframe, you could start to filter out patterns and see what baits are working for you at given times of the year in given conditions if you fish a lot.

I keep an all weather notebook with me for fishing, then transfer my info to an Excel file after fishing. Makes data sorting easy, and I don't like the idea of anyone getting at the data I'm working to compile.
On a side note, I urge anyone who is keeping a log or considering keeping a log, to ask themselves what they intend to do with the info they gather. For me, my main focus is to show what lures I'm consistently catching fish with, so I'm not spending money at sporting goods stores unnecessarily. Along with that, I'm able to eliminate unproductive bodies of water (again, for me) that might not be as productive use of my limited spare time. After 5 yrs of pretty meticulous record keeping, I spend less cash and try to head to water where I've done well in the past.
Hope this helps!

Keep us posted if you get this running! It would also be great to have the possibility to mark exact location of the fish.
