I remember as a kid the multitude of bait shops around. Now, you have to travel a ways to buy shiners. I'm in Brockton and aside from JR's is there any other bait shops around? Tom's in Middleboro still there?

Ayup I've lived in Holbrook the majority of my life and as a kid in the 70s n 80s I could walk to the closest baitshop and hit 2 more with a rock just about, lol. I only use live bait when ice fishing and JRs closes for the winter,Outdoor Sportsman in Hanson had there roof cave in this winter and I don't know if they were relocating or rebuilding, there's a small shop on rte. 104 near Halifax/E.Bridgewater town line(i think its The Sportsmen's Den??? Not sure) then there's a guy on corner of rte.18 and rte.106 in E.Bridgewater that sells shiners out of his basement (Crazy Joes or something like that).Toms is the best but its a bit of a ride for me.

Try plastics and artificial lures. Problem solved. Its harder but much more fun and rewarding.

The place in Halifax is called T C Sports Den. I am glad you mentioned this place, I like supporting local business and this one is right in my town! I have been going to Dick's in Hanover but this place is much closer.

Not a bad idea. I was looking at some minnow traps at Dicks.

Fore River Bait & Tackle in quincy is where I've gone for shiners since I was little. Solid shop.
