Looking for input on trolling motor for my Bass Hunter Baby Bass. Fried my 30 lb minn kota last night. I've been thinking for awhile about upgrading to a 55 lb thrust. Thinking 55 would be better on windy days and larger lakes, but worried about slower speeds being to fast? Thoughts?

I went from a smaller motor (don't remember what size) to the Minnkota Duramax 55 and am so glad I did. The lowest speed is a slooooow crawl and is barely moving you, but all the way up and it has some giddyup (as far as a trolling motor goes, LOL)! As far as the wind, I'd rather have the extra speed available and not need it than need it and not have it! Good luck on your decision!

I've got a 55lb thrust Minn Kota C2. It does have a nice slow push on 1 or 2, but hits a good speed on 4 and 5.

I went with the 55lb thrust minn kota endura. I've been out twice with it. It is great. Slow speeds are still nice and slow, but the top speed is almost double the 30 lb thrust. I read a lot of mixed things with many claiming there is no difference in speed. Just not true, thing is like a rocket on 5. Anyone contemplating upgrading it is worth it.
