So those of you that know me know that I have been longing to buy a bass boat for a few years now. Well my tax returns are going to be pretty decent and I think this is going to be the year that I can actually buy one. Obviously in the springtime the prices of the boats will start to go up. Also we are not talking a new Ranger or anything, probably something for a few thousand dollars and older. My question is in order to get a better deal is it necessarily a smart thing to buy a boat in the winter when you really cannot try it out to the fullest or at all? Obviously there is no place to drive it and in most cases the boats have all been winterized. What is a guy to do? Please be serious in your responses.

Hey Roger that's great news!!

I would hold off til spring. There's a lot of jerk offs on C's list looking to sell you a pile of crap thinking its gold! Winter, spring, summer or fall realy won't change price too much. Think you can still find what your looking for at a fair price. You just gotta act quick & be lucky (right place at right time). Another idea is if you bought from a boat dealer. You would get some kinda warranty & I'm sure you could keep it on the dealers lot til better weather got here.

Good luck!

PS. Since I'm the first to respond, I get first ride shot gun, no recalls!! Very Happy haha!

The few hundred or thousand dollars difference in price now verses in Spring is some gear or general upkeep/maintenance or electronics. Sorry Evan, first reply or not, Kman always gets first dibs as my cousin and longtime fishing partner. You can get the 2nd ride Smile

Roger, DO NOT buy a boat you cannot test drive or see the engine running.

I know Rich. Common sense is telling me not to and the guy who really, really wants a boat is saying "Maybe it'll be ok?". Waiting will save me money and grief in the long run though. April can't get here fast enough!

I'm looking to spend about $3000-3500. Not a lot, but it's all I'll have towards the boat. Looking for a fiberglass, but also aluminum bass trackers too (sorry, no aircraft carriers). I have been looking at all the websites too, but let me know what you see.

You can buy my boat for 3K firm. Anytime open water test drive is OK.
I am selling house too. When I find a new house, I will buy a new boat. So my boat is on the market.

1997, 17'6", 120HP, Fiberglass, 75LB Trolling Motor, 3 battery in very good condition, two fish finders, always in garage since I have owned it.
