I saw the first signs of pre-spawn today!!!!!!!!! I was at Fellsmere pond and saw tons of bass in a really shallow flat. There were large females dotted allover the flat. They were staking out areas to build nests. There were lots of little male bass everywhere waiting to grab the first available females. This is a small pond though and has heated quickly, so it is probably slightly ahead of most other bodies of water.

I have tried every kind of bait imaginable, except live bait, at spot in my 3 visits there in the last week. Nuttin. Was there for a couple hours on Friday, beautiful day, but no love.

I was at the Fellsmare on the 29th, seen, what I would estimate to be a 6-8 pound female that would not take anything i threw at her. It was amazing just to see her. Also seen a huge (10-15 pound) koi carp.

Spot pond is a tough place to fish! i have tried so many times, but still only catch tiny smallmouth. the way i look at is the pond, that it is so big with little cover. i think fish hang out on rock piles out their plus it is a huge body of water that still at this time of the year is still cold!

Went out to Fellsmere for two hours this morning. I didn't catch anything, but my wife got a 1lb largemouth on a yellow and black spinnerbait. You could see a number of fish starting to bed up along the shore, but nothing was biting.

That's basically what was happening to me too. I seen a bunch of fish, including that huge lunker I mentioned above, but nothing would take anything i threw at it.

I went to fellsmere sunday got two, 2 lbers. I did see some huge, fat ones though. They were extremely skittish though. They were gone before I could even toss a lure past them. There were tons of beds made. I'm pumped, I'm hitting up Spot Pond this afternoon. This is around the time last year when I did my best there. Spot Ponds one of my favorite spots.

Females are sitting in beds in the little pond behind my house.
They want none of whatever I throw at them. They just sit there and stare at me no more than 10 inches from shore, haha
