I hate the bats. I dont worry about much out there but the bats freak me out a tad. They echo your lures and line and I have been hit by them as well.

If they ever run into me, I think that would be it for me. A few around my house have almost got me. Right between the house and garage it's like a bat highway.

One of the best "critter" stories I have is the coyote situation. 3am, windows open and they make a kill or someting in the backyard. All of them start howling at once. It sound like a 100 of them. Not a nice way to be worken up from a deep sleep.

I used to fish on shore between two coyote dens. They were about 100 yards apart. Early fall on the first cool nights they would wake up and do call and response. It sends chills up your body, just a primal feeling you get. I never felt unsafe but you feel very alive when they are calling back and forth and you are in between.

Too bad they weren't cougar dens.

Never had any large animals bug me. But a few weeks ago at about 11 pm was fishing from a canoe all alone. I casting a large swimbait that clicks and something chased it up to the boat then went under. Everything was silent for about 30 seconds then a huge slap hit the side of the canoe I look over and its a huge ass beaver. The sound was like someone blasted a 30-06 next to my head almost scared me clear out of the canoe. Then if once wasn't enough it kept coming back and slapping the water all around even brought a friend. Ruined my night how can I catch fish with that craziness going on. Every slap I jumped haha I'm a wuss if they were trying to scare me away it worked.

I've had about the same experience around Whitney Pond while fishing for horned pout! Dam beavers

The bugs & wild life I can deal with.

Its the other creepy crawlers that scare me!

I had an incident a couple a years ago at Horn shore fishing at night. Some A-hole on a bike started s*** with me. Just so happen that I brought a fillet knife with me that night. Just kept me mouth shut to avoid any trouble. Add to that I was robbed at gun point here at work last year, makes me a little jumpy when I'm out at night by myself!

Fish with a friend at night when ever possible!!
