Did you end up getting one??

yea i got a bunch of them. i got the wrong color 8" trout and i think i should have gotten ones with a greater RToF, and they were all out of 68s. do you find yourself getting caught on weeds when u add the stinger? i have a 9" slammer as well. when do people use the slammer vs. the huds? is the top water bite basically over during the fall and winter or does it go on till ice in? i have mono on my big swimbait rod but i dont know if i'll be able to set the hook well enough with it. i heard that braid will get screwed up when casting these big baits, is this true? i'd really like to use braid with a mono leader. thoughts?

What color 8" did you get? I usually stick to rainbow or perch. I stay away from mono when throwing hudds. I use 17lb flourocarbon. Slammers are great when it is overcast and windy. I will either use berkley biggame or braid with slammers.

i got a trout pattern but i dont like the color. there is another one that looks better that i meant to get. do people ever catch fish that are suspended over deeper water with the huds or do u always kinda slow roll them along the bottom.

I have never thrown it for suspended bass, but you could use one of the slower sink rate hudds for that purpose. I think there are better techniques for suspended bass.

I throw a 7inch frog pattern and 9 inch perch pattern slammer on 30lb braid and I have a custom 8 inch trout pattern swimbait that I throw on 20lb mono. All on spinning gear with med. heavy or heavy 6'6''-7' rods. I did just pick up a quality bait caster but not sure if it can handle the big boy lures. I find that on cloudy days or on calm evening nights I get the best action...and 50 percent of the time it's a big fish that's interested.

I've never owned or thrown a HUD bait....but I just may have to look into it.

Good luck!

I like the look of these lures and may have to get a few different patterns and sizes for the upcoming season.

Beware: The 6" baits can be thrown on a flipping stick but the 8" baits weight like 4.8 oz. It's a beast and you need a swimbait rod to throw it.

I know Rich. I bought an 8" plastic perch swim bait and it is a beast! I plan on buying a rod to throw that baby around next season. Any suggestions on the proper weight/size, etc, where it doesn't feel like the rod will break during the cast and retrieve?

Sent you a Pm but basically for everyone else. I prefer shimano swimbait rods but there are lots of other quality swimbait rods. The key is they are swimbait specific and not just heavy flipping sticks. Look at what weight lure the rod is rated for. It should be 2-5oz minumum.
Go on Tacklewarehouse and search by technique specific then look at the different rods under swimbaits.

Thanks for the info Rich. I didn't realize I had PM'd you initially. I was looking for my post and then realized it afterwards, so I put the question on the board again for others to see who may have been wondering too.
