I have been reading up on braided line to fashion as a leader coming off the frog to a 6th Sense Turn Ball bearing swivel.

Looking for some braided line recomendations from you guys that fish frogs.. you know lb test #40, 50 or 60 and color (invisible, green, low vis)
I am getting tired of losing $10-$12 frogs.. Laughing Laughing

Thanks in advance...

PJ

Best line is sunline fx2 60lb.

Thanks.. can you tell me why? Whats been your experience with it? How do knots hold up and whats it's capacity for abrasion?

Regards,

It casts farther than any other braid on the market. Tie a Palomar knot and you will never break a frog off again. The line lasts a very long time unlike many other braids I have tried.

I've been using Power Pro Moss Green 30lb test for my bait casters and it's worked very well. Like jbigun said I tie on with a Palomar and never have issues.

It seems to cast well and the birds nests I get are pretty minor and untangle with little effort.

I would recommend it. I got it on sale at Dick's a while back for $15 for 300yds.

I broke off on 30 lb last week. 50 or 60 is the way to go.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

So I am picking up on a word in one of the post's that makes me ask this question;

Do any of you use a spinning reel for this line?
I ask because a "bait caster" is mentioned and I use the SR

Thanks

I love that website PJ, I use it all the time. I use the Palomar knot about 99% of the time now. It's very easy to tie and it never gives me any issues.

As far as braid on a Spinning Reel, I don't think there's any problem with that.

I checked out both lines and they are available from Tackle Warehouse. One is more expensive than the other and both have different claims to why they are good...the sunline says it was co-developed by a Pro and their engineers...Power Pro says it is made with space age fillaments that provide a superior bonding/strength.

Neither of them discus how smooth spooling is or if it works with different types of reels.

Any help would be appreciated.

FWIW I use PowerPro Super 8 Slick in aqua green, just don't buy from BassPro, they will hammer you on the price, for 300 yards they are $5 more than Cabelas, $13 more than Sears. Ouch!

I don't think you can go wrong with either lines. Pick what's in you price range and grab it your over thinking this it's not a big deal. Good luck.

I use a spinning rod for my frog rod. It is a 6'6" falcon heavy action spinning rod. I have a Shimano symetre 4000 on it . I fill it about a 1/3 of the way with mono. (the mono backing prevents slipping. Braid can slip and just continue to spin when it is tied directly to the spool. I use 50lb power pro. I am on year 2 with this spool of braid. At the end of last year I took the spare spool that comes with the older symetres, put it on the reel and filled the new spool with the line from the old spool. Now the braid that was closest to the top of the old spool is at the bottom of the new spool. Oh and I out bomb jbigun with my frog set up every time

I do the same thing. It seems so obvious to do that, but I never hear of anyone doing it.
