Couple Spots In Westwood
Went back out to Westwood with a buddy, this time to a different spot to start out. I'd been hearing a lot about Hale reservation from people I run into at buckmaster so I figured it was worth a shot. The best pond for boating that I saw on the map was Noanet pond. Mid afternoon and windy when we showed up, but despite the poor conditions we caught 4 bass in a couple hours. All were keepers and one was a good 1 1/2 pounds. Would have stayed longer but we saw a sign that said no private boats, so we decided not to push our luck. I'll definitely be trying this spot again. After Noanet we decided to hit Buckmaster for the early evening bite. Was real dead for a while but as soon as the sun started going down it started to heat up big time. I broke the ice with a nice 2 pounder on a 4in senko and then Matt started tearing em' up one after another, his best being around 2 1/2 pounds (I'm guessing because we forgot to weigh it). Between the two of us we caught about 8 fish in less than two hours. Matt with 5 and I had 3
oh, and I tried Starrow pond the other day. Very enjoyable. I caught a lot of bass, but only two were keepers. Are there any hawgs in there?
I usually have the most luck in and around the pads and also in the grassbeds. It has been very mucky lately which adds insult to injury when the fish aren't biting. I was out there tonight and I got four bass but only one was a keeper. I did get a big fat pickerel though
I tried Buckmaster Pond at 6 a.m. yesterday in my kayak and nothing. Everything I threw out came back covered in salad. Very frustrating. Where did you have the most luck?
Also, the smaller pond at the Hale, Starrow Pond, is a nice little spot.
