Does this pond have a spot to put in a cartop boat? It's on my list of ponds to fish in Central Mass. (2009)
Brigham Pond is an average size (63 acre) warm water pond located in Hubbardston Center. The pond is the headwater to the West Branch of the Ware River. The average depth is approximately six feet with a maximum depth of 11 feet. The water is of a brown color with a transparency of four feet. A gravel ramp suitable for car top or small boat trailers is located off of Wachusett Road on the pond’s southern tip. Shore access is available in the vicinity of the dam and ramp across state owned lands and across private property, elsewhere off perimeter roads. Very little of the shoreline is developed and this pond offers a fine opportunity for a very aesthetic experience. Fish: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, brown bullhead, white sucker, golden shiner. Aquatic vegetation, especially pickerel weed and water lily, is dense around much of the shoreline.
Brigham Pond offers good fishing for an assortment of warm water fish. Both largemouth bass and chain pickerel are present in good numbers, and many of the bass sampled were in the three pound size range. Panfish are somewhat stunted, but provide productive fishing. The most abundant gamefish is largemouth bass and the most abundant panfish is yellow perch.
