5/4/14 - Lake Quannapowitt
Got out in the morning for a 3 hours trip with Vin. 1st time for me this year, that hasn't been a tournament. Also put a "new" used trolling motor on Vin's boat a couple weeks ago, so we were eager to test it out. Water temps were 55-56, wind would build through out the outing. Game plan was to flip the wood, and spinner baits/squarebills else where. Vin gets it going first with a couple 1lbers off a laydown. I'm up next when my spinner bait get smashed by a 2lb 2oz Largemouth that would be the big one of the day. We headed in to a little area we have luck in usually. Vin has a 2+lber follow his craw almost out of the water as he retrieved it. I picked up a chunky 1-1/2lber off some brush. Vin gets into a good one, but it come unbuttoned. Not sure how, cause he hammered that hookset. Next we headed down a wind blown shoreline, cast horizontal with the shore in 3' to 5' of water I get two 1-3/4lbers in about 8 casts. Towards the end I would miss another decent one as it again hit on the retrieve and caught me off guard. Still a fun trip! 3 hours with a limit between us for about 8-1/4lbs, with room to grow. Every fish caught showed signs of feeding pretty good, with chunky bellies.
