3/31/13 - Charles River Waltham
I was in Waltham to watch the Girlfriend play in a volleyball tourney yesterday. After I put in a couple hours there, I stopped at the "Twin Coves" for about an hour. Mostly threw a black/blue 1/4oz jig. Wind was gusty at times, but nice overall. Started in the right side cove, working the right shoreline. About 20 minutes in felt a slight tap, and line starting going out...WHAM! Hookset, I knew it wasn't really big right away, but it was the 1st Bass of the season at 1lb 5oz. Headed out on the middle pennisula, worked my way from point, all the way down the right shoreline of the left cove. From there I saw a stick about 50 feet out, about 4 inches out of the water. Gotta be some kind of structure attached to that. 2nd cast to it, felt a good bite, line take off...WHAM! Cross it eyes, and knew it was a little better than the 1st one. As Im poppong my jig out of its mouth I notice a tail in its mouth. This gready one was still working on getting down what I think was a shad, when it hit my jig. That explains it fat belly. 2lb 5oz was it weight, and with that I called it a day
