11/7/11 - Northshore Honey Hole
I was able to get in about an hour yesterday, which with the work schedule will probably be about the last time this year except or the weekends. Weather was nice, low winds. Start with crankbait, jerkbait, dropshot, with nothing doing while working my way down the shoreline. I get to the last section I would fish, grab my jig and pitch it to a tree that has about an 8ft section of branches/leaves touching in the water about 10ft out. Start slow dragging back, I feel some rock, and...tick, tick I set the hook and about a 2-1/2lber surfaces and lets go of my jig...dohhh! My jig ended up in the thorn bush next to me, just messy, lol. Retie, Pitch in again for bit, nothing. I moved about 10ft down there is a huge tree down and the top lays down in the water, pitch about 10ft out on it, start dragging back, I feel the branches, as I feel the jig pop off a branch...thump, set the hook, and this one is not getting away. Swing em on shore, measure, and weight 15-3/4in 1lb 11oz, get my picture and back she goes for another day. Would have look to get the other one too, but not bad for a November day.
